Why the boards matter
Most bagel kits are a bag of mix and a recipe card, the part you could assemble from any grocery store. The hard-to-find pieces are the equipment and the odd ingredients: cedar baking boards with food-grade burlap, and the diastatic malt powder that gives bagel crust its color and chew. This kit packs all of it, plus a recipe card written for first-timers. Follow it as written, or read the from-scratch method to see what you're working toward.
The gluten-free kit is not an afterthought
The GF version swaps in a psyllium-based dough mix and a brown-sugar boil additive developed for it. Same boards, same tools, same flip. One honest note: our mixes are packed in a shared home kitchen; if you bake for someone with celiac disease, read the allergen disclosure first.
Both kits arrive as a complete set, nothing else to hunt down. A working gift for the baker, host, or bagel-obsessive on your list (more gift ideas).
